The Evolution of Web Development

The web wasn't always this fast.

In the beginning, we were building with "Digital Bricks"—static HTML files linked together in a fragile web of text and low-res images. There was no "state," no "components," and certainly no "automation."

Phase 1: The Static Foundations (1990s)

Web 1.0 was the era of the "Read-Only" web. We spent our time perfecting the table layout and praying the browser wouldn't crash. It was slow, it was clunky, but it was the start of a revolution.

Phase 2: The Social Interactivity (2000s)

Web 2.0 introduced the "Read-Write" web. With the birth of AJAX and jQuery, websites became applications. We stopped refreshing the page and started building experiences. But this came with a cost: massive complexity and "JavaScript fatigue."

Phase 3: The Component Revolution (2010s)

React, Vue, and Angular changed the game. We moved from thinking about pages to thinking about Components. This modularity allowed us to build huge, complex systems, but we often sacrificed initial load speeds for interactivity.

Phase 4: The Modern Edge (2020s & Beyond)

This is where CodeRock lives. We’ve moved into the era of Serverless and Edge Computing.

Using frameworks like Next.js, we get the best of both worlds: the speed of the old static web and the power of modern dynamic apps. We use "Server Components" to move the heavy lifting off the user's phone and onto the cloud.
